RT-55-09 Orochi Gundam is a high performance mobile suit. It is assigned to Paul Gekko.
Technology & Combat Characteristics[]
The Orochi was designed as a high-speed attacker. The Orochi Gundam is equipped with an Electro-Magnetic Field shield. By emitting a tense force field, the EMF shield can block many attacks and cover wide areas of the Gundam's body despite its small size. Its main armaments include a buster gun, beam swords and two foldable shoulder claws. Its shoulders' claws mounts a set of beam cannons which can operate either on mounting arms, or detached and act as wire-guided all-range attack units. It can also transform into a high speed mode by retracting its legs into its skirt armor, revealing additional thrusters.
Armaments[]
- Shoulder Claws
- Remote weapons that are attached to the shoulders, these claw-shaped devices are armed with internal beam cannons and controlled via wire cables. The claws have small verniers to adjust and re-adjust their position to attack, and they are capable of performing "all-range attacks."
- Dragon Claw
- Large golden claws mounted over the Orochi Gundam's forearms, armed with flamethrowers and crushing strength. While active, the claws shifted forward to conceal the Gundam's hands and the mecha's arms would frequently extend, giving them the appearance of giant snakes.
- Dragon Fangs
- The Dragon Fang is an enhanced claw mounted on both arms and is designed for quick melee strikes.
- Flamethrower
- Orochi had a pair of short-range flame throwers, built into the side of its extendable Dragon Fang. It was used as a incendiary weapon upon weaker targets. After it was upgraded, now with two Dragon Fangs.
- Beam Sabers
- The sabers are stored on the backpack, and can transform from saber to the "Gundam Javelin," a large pole with a three pronged beam at the end. The beam sabers use Minovsky particles held in place by an I-Field to form an effective cutting surface that can slice through nearly any material. The particles for the beam sabers are stored by E-cap in the hilt of the saber, which is recharged from the Gundam's reactor when the saber is returned to its socket. Once activated, beam sabers do not rely on the mobile suit's reactor and can be thrown or discarded as decoys. The beam saber is most often used for close range combat or as an emergency weapon once all other ammunition has been depleted. One can be used as a reserve weapon, or both can be used simultaneously in a twin sword fashion.
